SRT Motorsports has made a last-minute driver lineup swap in advance of this weekend’s Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda, in an effort to provide both the Nos. 91 and 93 Dodge Viper SRT GTS-Rs a shot at the GT Le Mans driver’s title.

Kuno Wittmer and Jonathan Bomarito had been tied, but the full-season pairing in the No. 93 car has been split up. Wittmer will shift to the No. 91 car which he’ll share with Marc Goossens, while Dominik Farnbacher will go over to the No. 93 to race with Bomarito.

“This will improve our chances to win the driver’s title,” said SRT racing manager Gary Johnson. “If the No. 93 car ended up being taken out by another team, this would allow the No. 91 driver – in this case, Kuno – to win the championship or vice versa should the 91 have an issue it then gives Jonathan Bomarito the chance to win the championship.

“I think it’s a smart decision. It doubles our chances to win the championship.”

Third drivers Ryan Hunter-Reay (No. 91) and Rob Bell (No. 93) continue in their planned spots.

Heading into the weekend, Wittmer and Bomarito led the standings with 300 points, seven ahead of Corvette Racing’s Antonio Garcia. Meanwhile Farnbacher and Goossens were tied for third in points at 283.
