Jackie Chan DC Racing by Jota Sport has announced a seven-driver lineup for its Asian Le Mans Series program, featuring a combination of regulars and newcomers to the Anglo-Chinese team.

The team previously announced its plan to run three cars in the four-race series that gets underway this weekend in Zhuhai.

Stephane Richelmi will drive the No. 7 Oreca 05 Nissan alongside Thomas Laurent and newcomer Harrison Newey, while David Cheng and Ho-Pin Tung will partner up in the No. 8 Oreca.

Richelmi won the LMP2 category in the 24 Hours of Le Mans last year while Laurent has been part of the team’s FIA World Endurance Championship lineup this season which currently leads the point standings.

Newey will make his prototype debut with the team after competing in the FIA F3 European Championship this year.

“Jackie Chan DC Racing x JOTA Sport is excited to be running Harrison Newey in the Asian Le Mans Series,” said Jota Sport director Sam Hignett.

“We have a proud history of helping single seater drivers make the transition into sports car racing and after his successful season in F3, we have no doubt that Harrison will soon became a very strong sports car driver.”

Cheng and Tung will drive the second car, with Cheng looking for his fourth series title after narrowly losing out on it last season.

“We’re excited to be back in Asia and competing for a fourth Asian Le Mans Series title in both the LMP2 and LMP3 categories,” Cheng said.

“There is certainly some unfinished business for the team having missed out on the title last year through an incident in the final round. We’re looking forward to coming out strong and winning back the titles and that begins this weekend in Zhuhai.

“We are delighted to be working with JOTA Sport for our Asian campaign and look forward to an exciting and competitive championship.”

The JOTA-run team will also field a sole Ligier JS P3 Nissan in the LMP3 category for Americans Patrick Byrne and Guy Cosmo.

The pair drove a similar Ligier together in the inaugural UK LMP3 Cup race before winning the class at the FARA Miami 500.
