James Calado put the Kaspersky Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3 on top in Saturday afternoon’s Pre-Qualifying session, going just 0.005 seconds faster than Philipp Eng.

The Brit set a time of 2:00.322 in the final ten minutes of the session, which only just put the No. 55 Ferrari ahead of Eng’s No. 99 ROWE Racing BMW M6 GT3.

The session came to a premature end when Oliver Morley’s No. 16 Black Falcon Mercedes-AMG GT3 came to a halt on the International Pits Straight, bringing out the red flag with less than two minutes on the clock.

The Mercedes-AMG Team HTP Motorsport car of Maxi Buhk, Franck Perera and Jimmy Eriksson completed the top three.

Early pacesetter Daniel Juncadella had to settle for fourth in his similar Mercedes-AMG, meanwhile.

It was a strong showing all around for the Ferrari teams, with two other 488s in the top ten.

Meanwhile, championship leaders Mirko Bortolotti and Christian Engelhart were eighth in their Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3.

The fastest drivers were lapping around two tenths quicker than Jonny Adam’s best time from this morning’s Free Practice session.

The top 24 cars were covered by less than one second in what was a very tight session.

Qualifying will kick off at 9:45 a.m. BST tomorrow morning.
