Nasr Scores Long Beach Pole in Cadillac Lockout

Felipe Nasr has scored pole for Saturday’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, in a lockout of the top three positions for Cadillac DPi-V.R machinery.

The Brazilian reeled off a best lap of 1:11.620 in his No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac to edge out the No. 01 Chip Ganassi Racing entry of Kevin Magnussen by 0.104 seconds.

Loic Duval made it a clean sweep for Cadillac with the No. 5 JDC-Miller Motorsports entry to start third overall.

The No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-05 of Dane Cameron was the best of the rest, qualifying fourth but more than eight-tenths slower than pole-sitter Nasr.

DPi qualifying came to an early end after an accident for the No. 55 Mazda RT24-P of Oliver Jarvis, who plowed into the tire barriers in Turn 9. 

Jarvis had set the sixth quickest time in class, behind the championship-leading No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura of Filipe Albuquerque, who will start fifth in class.

Jordan Taylor stormed to pole in GT Le Mans, thanks to a 1:16.801 lap time in his No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R he will share with Antonio Garcia.

Taylor, who scored his fifth consecutive class pole, outpaced the sister No. 4 entry of Tommy Milner by 0.297 seconds.

The No. 79 WeatherTech Racing Porsche 911 RSR-19 of Cooper MacNeil will start third in class, having qualified amid the GT Daytona class pack.

Snow Claims Pole; Vanthoor Quickest in GTD

Madison Snow claimed the pole in the GTD class while the No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Laurens Vanthoor set the pace in the second stage of qualifying.

Snow’s 1:19.475 lap time in the No. 1 Paul Miller Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo edged out the class points-leading No. 96 Turner Motorsport BMW M6 GT3 of Robby Foley by 0.134 seconds.

Richard Heistand will start third in class in the No. 39 CarBahn with Peregrine Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo followed by the No. 9 Pfaff Porsche of Zach Robichon.

The guesting No. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 of Daniel Mancinelli was fifth in class, meanwhile.

Vanthoor’s 1:18.957 lap time in Q2 came despite the left-side door mirror becoming dislodged during his qualifying run.

The Belgian was 0.148 seconds quicker than the Paul Miller Lamborghini of Bryan Sellers, who scored second place qualifying points ahead of the No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 of Jack Hawksworth.

A spin for the No. 27 The Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 of Alex Riberas resulted in a red flag to end Q2 several minutes early.
