Team TGM will partner with Wright Motorsports for its GTD effort in the Rolex 24 at Daytona, which will feature its full-season IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge driver lineup.
The Ted Giovanis-owned team announced Thursday that brothers Hugh and Matt Plumb, Owen Trinkler and Giovanis will make up the lineup for the team’s Porsche 911 GT3 R, in a repeat attempt in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season-opener.
It will again pull double duty between both series, with the team debuting its new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport entries in GS class competition.
“We put so much time and preparation into the double-duty event last January, and we felt like we were cheated out of the finish,” Giovanis said.
“We gave it a great deal of thought, as it is a huge investment of both time and money, but Team TGM is ready to tackle the Rolex 24 again this year.”
Giovanis, who celebrated his 76th birthday on Dec. 28, added: “We feel especially good about being able to race completely under the Porsche banner this season.
“The marque is one of the most respected in the sport, and John Wright and his crew are the foremost authorities in North America. We’re very excited to be working with them again.”
Trinkler added: “We’ve been able to do some testing with the GT3 R in early December, and we all feel good in the car and look forward to the Roar and seeing what we can do there.
“The Rolex 24 is such an awesome event, and we’re so happy to be part of it again in 2022.
“It’s a huge challenge with the 4-hour Michelin Pilot race on Friday, but everyone on the team is thrilled at the opportunity to be part of the double-event weekend again.”
