4H Abu Dhabi Red-Flagged After G-Drive Fire

The 4 Hours of Abu Dhabi is under a red flag following a fire for the No. 26 G-Drive Racing Ligier JS P320 Nissan of Viacheslav Gutak.

The Russian driver bailed from the Graff Racing-run LMP3 car while under the race’s first safety car period due to fluid laid down on the Yas Marina Circuit, with smoke and fire billowing out of the car.

Race director Eduardo Freitas called the red flag moments later, which has seen the cars line up on the start/finish straight with the clock still running.

Josh Pierson in the No. 23 United Autosports Oreca 07 Gibson holds a one-lap lead over the competition following a commanding opening run by the recently turned 16-year-old American in his LMP2 entry.

The No. 2 DKR Engineering Duqueine D08 Nissan of Sebastian Alvarez leads LMP3 while Marvin Kirchhofer is out front in the GT class in his No. 88 Garage 59 McLaren 720S GT3 with nearly two hours completed.
