Felipe Fraga took his first career victory in DTM in dominant fashion, converting pole position into victory at the Norisring.
Fraga retained the lead from Mirko Bortolotti on the opening lap, but the Italian remained within striking distance throughout the opening phase of the race.
A slightly quicker pitstop from the Red Bull AF Corse crew meant the Fraga’s No. 74 Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 was able to stay in front of Bortolotti’s No. 63 GRT Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo.
The Brazilian took his first race win in the series and the first DTM win for AF Corse since Liam Lawson completed a weekend sweep at the Red Bull Ring in September of last year.
Rene Rast secured his second position of the weekend after gaining several positions and moving up to 4th in the opening exchanges.
This allowed him to get close to Marco Wittmann and vault ahead of his compatriot during the round of mandatory stops.
Wittmann finished the race in fourth place, finishing ahead of Dennis Olsen as the Norwegian completed the top five.
Maximilian Goetz finished in sixth place, ahead of Ayhancan Guven and Luca Stolz.
Saturday race winner Thomas Preining came home in ninth, with Maro Engel competing the top ten.
Sunday’s race was considerably less incident-filled than the chaotic Saturday race, although there were still six retirements as Kelvin van der Linde, Marius Zug, Maxi Buhk and Mikael Grenier all dropped out.
Most notably, Ricardo Feller and David Schumacher both retired after the two drivers made front-to-rear contact at turn one.
