Road Shagger Racing will start the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season with its first-generation Audi RS 3 LMS TCR prior to a planned switch to the new Gen 2 model beginning at Sebring International Raceway in March, it has been revealed.
The Nevada-based team will return for its fifth season in the TCR ranks with the unchanged driver lineup of Gavin Ernstone and Jon Morley.
After experiencing its first winless season in Pilot Challenge competition last year, the team has elected to return to its trademark blue livery.
“Not winning sucks,” Morley said. “I can’t wait to try the new car. It’s proven itself in Europe and I know it’s going to put us right back up at the front of the field. Also… it looks badass.”
This month’s season-opening BMW Endurance Challenge will see a mixed grid of new and old Audis, with Unitronic JDC-Miller Motorsports confirming on Friday that it will campaign a Gen 2 Audi after importing it from a dealer in Germany.
Audi Sport customer racing currently provides limited support to teams in North America.
