Abril, Vidales Become AF Corse-Contracted Drivers

AF Corse has announced the addition of Vincent Abril and David Vidales to its roster of contracted drivers.

Both Abril and Vidales will take part in yet-to-be-determined programs with the Ferrari-affiliated team that will be announced in the “coming weeks”.

French driver Abril notably drove for AF Corse in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2022, taking pole position in the GTE Am class, as well as in other series such as the Asian Le Mans Series and International GT Open.

“I am extremely honored and excited to become an AF Corse driver,” said Abril. “It is a team that I will forever link with great successes.

“In the past I have taken part in several programmes with the team – the pole position at Le Mans 2022 in the LMGTE Am class comes to mind – but never full-time.

“My goal has always been to drive full-time for this incredible team, which has felt like home from day one.

“I would like to thank Amato Ferrari and everyone who has made this possible and I look forward to all the exciting moments ahead as we continue to build success together.”

Vidales is moving into sports car racing for the first time having up to now raced in single-seaters, participating in FIA F3 in 2022 and then Japan’s second-tier Super Formula Lights series last year.

Unable to step up to Super Formula, Vidales and his management stable Monaco Increase Management were forced to look elsewhere, and the Spaniard is understood to have tested a Ferrari 296 GT3 for the first time over the winter.
