Tyler Gonzalez was quickest in final Pirelli GT4 America practice for Saturday’s inaugural series endurance race at Circuit of The Americas, setting the pace for Smooge Racing.
Gonzalez, who faced an early-session two-minute stop-and-hold penalty for exceeding track limits from Practice 1, reeled off a best time of 2:14.330 in his No. 68 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO.
It was just 0.028 seconds quicker than Pro-Am class pace-setter Kay van Berlo in the No. 7 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
Michael Cooper placed his No. 9 Blackdog Racing Nissan Z NISMO GT4 third on the overall time sheets, ahead of the No. 28 RS1 Porsche and No. 51 AutoTechnic BMW M3 GT4, which completed the top-five.
The No. 98 Random Vandals Racing BMW of Kris Wilson was quickest in the Am class, meanwhile, with the 17th quickest time overall.
In addition to the Smooge Toyota, multiple other cars were assessed penalties for track limits over the course of the 50-minute session, which ran without any red flags.
Qualifying takes place on Saturday at 10:20 a.m. CDT followed by the three-hour race, which gets underway at 5 p.m. with live coverage on SRO’s GT World YouTube page and on Twitch.
