After a lengthy red flag, the 52nd Nürburgring 24 will restart for five formation laps behind the safety car, after which race control will determine whether or not the race can be completed to the full extent.

The race was halted at 11:23 p.m. CEST (on Saturday night for fog and has remained under red flag conditions ever since.

Race control announced at 1 p.m. on Sunday that the field will complete five formation laps behind the safety car starting at 1:30 p.m. local time (7:30 a.m. EDT).

If the weather conditions are determined to have sufficiently improved at that stage, the full 24 hours will be completed and the race will run until 4 p.m. local time.

Should the fog still be too dense after the five laps, the race will not resume.

This means that the No. 16 Scherer Sport PHX Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II is set to be declared the winner in this scenario, as it was leading when the red flag was declared on Saturday night.
