Alex Sedgwick claimed pole position in a red flag-impacted qualifying for Race 1 of the Porsche Carrera Cup North America weekend at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, edging out Pro class points-leader Loek Hartog by just 0.059 seconds.

Sedgwick reeled off a 1:20.998 lap time in his No. 98 JDX Racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car just before the second of two red flags came out at the end of the 30-minute session, with race control ultimately waving the checkered flag two minutes early, solidifying Sedgwick’s pole effort.

Practice 2 pace-setter Ryan Yardley was third fastest abroad his No. 78 Topp Racing Performance entry, just over one tenth of a second off the pace.

JDX’s Zachary Vanier finished fourth, with the No. 64 Era Motorsport Porsche of Dan Clarke rounding out the top-five.

Running was initially interrupted by a brief red flag seven minutes into qualifying when Jake Pedersen spun his No. 85 Kellymoss Porsche along the front straightaway.

The second red was shown inside the final ten minutes when Michael Cooper’s No. 88 Baby Bull Racing machine went off track at Turn 6.

Both Pedersen and Cooper were stripped of their two fastest lap times as a result of being responsible for bringing out the reds.

ACI Motorsports’ Marco Cirone stormed to the Pro-Am pole and finished 14th fastest overall, with Scott Blind pacing the Masters field in his No. 45 Ruckus Racing Porsche.

Race 1 goes green at 5:05 p.m. EDT this evening with live coverage available on Peacock and IMSA.tv.
