Conrad Laursen will join the Akkodis ASP Lexus LMGT3 team for next month’s final round of the FIA World Endurance Championship in Bahrain.

The French team announced on Friday that Laursen has been drafted in to replace Clemens Schmid in the lineup for the No. 78 Lexus RC F GT3 alongside Kelvin van der Linde and Arnold Robin for the eight-hour curtain-closer on Nov. 2.

DTM regular Schmid first joined ASP for the third round of the season at Spa, as full-time driver Timur Boguslavskiy was unavailable due to illness, and ended up replacing the Russian driver when he parted ways with the team after the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

He achieved a best finish of ninth together with van der Linde and Robin at the Circuit of The Americas in September.

Laursen meanwhile is set for his first WEC start outside of Le Mans, the 18-year-old having made his debut earlier this year in the French endurance classic for the Spirit of Race LMGT3 team alongside father Johnny and Jordan Taylor.

The trio finished eighth in class on that occasion at the wheel of a Ferrari 296 GT3.

Laursen’s main program this year has been in the European Le Mans Series in a Formula Racing run-Ferrari, forming an all-Danish lineup together with his father and Ferrari Hypercar racer Nicklas Nielsen.
