Cadillac has confirmed that it has taken its first Evo joker on the V-Series.R ahead of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship seasons.
The manufacturer, which wrapped up this weekend’s two-day IMSA-sanctioned test at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday evening, utilized an updated control system electronics package aimed to improve “cohesiveness” in areas of consistency and reliability, according to a statement.
It is the first of five jokers taken by Cadillac that’s permitted during the initial homologation cycle.
Sportscar365 understands that Cadillac, with its chassis partner Dallara, initially also evaluated aero updates for 2025 but decided against rolling out with those changes for the time being.
All five V-Series.Rs will be equipped with the updated electronics package across the WeatherTech Championship and WEC next year, beginning with January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona.
“The whole program is stepping up every single year and it’s great that Cadillac continues to progress and develop and push the envelope,” said Earl Bamber, who will race full-time in both series.
“With this Evo joker, it will continue to help us be more successful.”
A total of nine drivers totaled 866 laps over the two days of running between the pair of Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing entries and the single Action Express Racing-run GTP class machine.
Cadillac is the second LMDh manufacturer to officially declare the usage of a joker for next year, following Porsche’s confirmation of suspension-related updated for its 963 prototype that will result in its second joker in as many years.
BMW has also confirmed updates to its M Hybrid V8 although it is awaiting confirmation from the FIA, ACO and IMSA on whether it will warrant a joker according to BMW M Motorsport director Andreas Roos.
