Tequila Patrón and Extreme Speed Motorsports recognized legendary race car driver David Brabham and his 30-year motorsports career during a special reception on Friday in China.

The celebration followed ESM’s first day of on-track action at the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Shanghai.

Ed Brown, president and CEO of Patrón Spirits International presented Brabham with a one-of-a-kind personalized bottle of Gran Patrón Platinum.

Brabham teams with Brown and Johannes van Overbeek in the No. 31 Tequila Patrón HPD ARX-03b HPD this weekend in ESM’s overseas FIA WEC debut.

Earlier this year, Brabham co-drove with Sharp and Dalziel in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship Rolex 24 At Daytona and assisted in a third-place finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring.

A staple in the ESM paddock, Brabham also co-drove in the then No. 01 machine during the 2013 ALMS endurance races at Sebring and Petit Le Mans in Atlanta.

The 6 Hours of Shanghai marks the second appearance for the Australian at Shanghai International Circuit. He finished fifth in 2012 in the LMP1 class.

In 30 years, Brabham has earned numerous championships titles including the Australian Formula 2 Gold Star (1987), British Formula Three Champion (1989), co-champion in the All-Japan Grand Touring Car GT500 (1996) and two-time American Le Mans Series (ALMS) Champion (2009-2010). Brabham’s co-drove a Tequila Patrón-sponsored LMP1 car during ALMS championship seasons.

He has also won some of the world’s premier events including Macau Grand Prix (1989), Bathurst 1000 (1997) and three 24 Hours of Le Mans in class (2007, 2008) and overall (2009).

The 6 Hours of Shanghai marks the overseas debut of Extreme Speed Motorsports in FIA WEC competition.
