Several new and returning entries are set to kick off the second half of the Pirelli GT4 America season this weekend at Virginia International Raceway.
The 29-car entry list for Rounds 6 and 7 will see the return of Damir Hot, who most recently was part of Flying Lizard Motorsports’ now-defunct Nissan Z NISMO GT4 program.
Hot will make his series return with Porsche Carrera Cup North America front-runner Ryan Yardley in the No. 25 ACI Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, competing in the Pro-Am class.
Flying Lizard Motorsports will also make its series return with a BMW M4 GT4 entry for the father-and-son pairing of Craig and Zach Lumsden.
ACI’s No. 9 Porsche, which had featured Dan Sibille this season with the combination of Porsche Motorsport North America Selected Driver Loek Hartog and alumni Kay van Berlo, however, is absent this weekend but is expected to return for Road America according to team owner Curt Swearingin.
Other notable absentees include the No. 15 Archangel Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo of Thomas Merrill and Adrian Comstock, and Anthony McIntosh, who confirmed to Sportscar365 that he not be in VIR at the wheel of the No. 69 JTR Motorsports Engineering Toyota Supra GT4 EVO2 as he shifts focus to European and international endurance racing.
McIntosh had shared the Pro-Am class contender with Toyota-contracted driver Parker Thompson.
After sweeping the Sebring weekend, Random Vandals Racing’s Kenton Koch and Kevin Boehm hold a narrow five-point lead over RAFA Racing Team’s Gresham Wagner and Tyler Gonzalez in the Silver class.
BimmerWorld, meanwhile, is out front in the Pro-Am and Am classes entering the weekend, with Tyler McQuarrie and James Walker Jr. leading Pro-Am, with teammates Charlie Postins and James Clay atop Am.
GT4 America competitors will have two test sessions on tap for Thursday, followed by practice on Friday, qualifying Saturday morning, with Race 1 set for a 5 p.m. EST start and Race 2 set for 11:25 a.m. on Sunday.
Both 60-minute races will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World Youtube and Twitch channels.
