Colin Braun paced the final GT World Challenge America powered by AWS practice sessions prior to qualifying for tomorrow’s three-hour season opener at Sonoma Raceway.
Braun, in the No. 017 Kellymoss Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo, reeled off a 1:34.514 lap time late in the 30-minute session, initially pipping fellow Porsche runner Thomas Merrill in the No. 242 Wright Motorsports entry.
However, Braun’s teammate Riley Dickinson in the No. 13 Porsche ended up second, setting a 1:34.545 lap time on the final lap to end up just 0.031 seconds slower.
Aaron Telitz set the fourth quickest time in the No. 69 Archangel Motorsports McLaren 720S GT3 Evo, with Will Bamber and Mikael Grenier completing the top-six for TR3 Racing and JMF Motorsports, respectively.
Pro-Am cars took the five quickest times, with Grenier leading the way in Pro, ahead of the No. 29 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO of Robby Foley.
All cars that are set to take part in the race except for the No. 32 GMG Racing Porsche turned laps in the session, which has been a new addition to the weekend following the series’ switch to a single headline race.
Qualifying for the three-hour season opener is on tap for Sunday at 8:45 a.m. PST (11:45 a.m. EST) followed by the race at 1:45 p.m. PST (4:45 p.m. EST), which will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel and on Twitch.
