The GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup points-leading Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin headlines a 57-car entry into the second round of the campaign at Monza this weekend.
The No. 007 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo of Nicki Thiim, Marco Sorensen and Mattia Drudi triumphed in a dramatic Paul Ricard opener last month to take the British manufacturer’s first series victory in nearly two years.
Second in the points is the No. 48 Winward Racing-run Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Luca Stolz, Maro Engel and Lucas Auer, with the latter duo triumphing at Monza last year.
The Winward crew were seemingly on course for victory at Paul Ricard until a late-race safety car opened the door for the Aston to strike.
Aside from the Comtoyou squad not fielding the extra Vantage that tackled the French event with a lineup headlined by Formula 1 driver Lance Stroll, there are relatively few changes to the entry list for Round 2.
The Sainteloc Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II of Ezequiel Perez Companc, Etienne Cheli and Ivan Klymenko that was also an additional Silver Cup entry for Paul Ricard will continue in Monza, while the No. 67 GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG has withdrawn with drivers Jason Hart and Scott Noble, who are now part of 2 Seas Motorsport’s lineup for the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa next month.
Other tweaks included Thomas Kiefer taking the place of Chandler Hull in the No. 60 JMW Motorsport Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo, while Paradine Competition recently revealed that Josh Rowledge would be joining the No. 992 BMW M4 GT3 EVO alongside Christian Hahn, but a third driver for that entry was still yet to be confirmed.
Similarly, the Razoon – more than racing Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo crew has not been confirmed and there were also TBAs aside both of the Tresor Attempto Racing Audis.
Official on-track action is scheduled to begin on Saturday at Monza with the opening practice session at 9 a.m. CEST (3 a.m. EST), while the three-hour race is due to get under way on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. CEST (9:30 a.m. EST).
