De Phillippi to Complete Turner BMW Lineup for Indy 8H

BMW factory ace Connor De Phillippi will complete Turner Motorsport’s lineup for next month’s GT World Challenge America powered by AWS season-ending Desder Indianapolis 8 Hour.

De Phillippi, who won the GTWC America Pro class title in 2025 with Random Vandals Racing, will team up with this year’s title protagonists Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg in their No. 29 BMW M4 GT3 EVO.

Foley and Rothberg and the Will Turner-led team are seeking their third consecutive series title after back-to-back Pro-Am class championships in the SRO America-run series.

It will mark De Phillippi’s first race start with the team, although he was due to take part in the 2021 edition of the Indy 8 Hour but the car was withdrawn due to an illness for co-driver Michael Dinan.

“He’s driven with us before, right after COVID, but we never raced because Michael Dinan was sick that weekend but he did do a test day with us,” Turner told Sportscar365.

“Obviously Connor being a factory driver, Robby being a factory driver, you couldn’t ask for anything more.”

Foley and Rothberg enter this weekends’ penultimate race of the GTWC America season at Barber Motorsports Park just four points behind Pro class leaders Michai Stephens and Mikael Grenier of JMF Motorsports.

As the only Pro class BMW for Indy, the Turner entry will fly the flag for the German manufacturer in the race, which also doubles as the season finale for Intercontinental GT Challenge.

The defending IGTC manufacturers’ champion currently sits third in the title race behind Porsche and Mercedes-AMG, with chances of back-to-back titles already ruled out following BMW’s decision not to send factory supported Team WRT Pro entries to the final two races of the season.

Turner, meanwhile, holds the chances of claiming three sports car racing championships in the same year, un unprecedented feat, with its IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD and Michelin Pilot Challenge GS entries also in title contention entering next weekend’s finales at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
