Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and Porsche Carrera Cup Japan will hold a joint event next year as the calendars for the two championships were unveiled ahead of this weekend’s Asia season finale at Singapore’s Marina Bay Circuit.

The two Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific-managed series will convene at Fuji Speedway on May 21-23, with each championship hosting two standalone races each along with a single combined race featuring a bumper grid that could exceed 50 cars.

Merging the two grids is a move made possible Carrera Cup Japan introducing the new Type 992.2 Cup car next season that debuted in Asia this year.

It will mark the first time the two series have raced on the same bill since 2019, with the last race featuring both categories on-track together taking place in 2016 (pictured top).

The Carrera Cup Asia calendar also features its usual rounds at Shanghai and Zhuhai in China, as well as its season finale on the support bill of Formula 1’s Singapore Grand Prix, but the Bangsaen Street Circuit in Thailand has been axed.

Instead, an extra race will be held at Sepang in Malaysia, with next year’s calendar featuring no Thai races for the first time since its international relaunch in 2023.

Meanwhile, the Carrera Cup Japan calendar features the same venue’s as the 2026 campaign, but with Sportsland Sugo moving to become the second round as the Okayama round shifts to August to support the SRO Japan Cup.

The series’ two visits to Suzuka will share a billing with the F1 Japanese Grand Prix and the Suzuka 1000km respectively, while the season will once again conclude with a pair of support races for the FIA World Endurance Championship’s 6 Hours of Fuji.

Besides the calendar, there is another significant change as Haruka Onozaki takes over as series manager from Hideto Yasuoka, who departs the organization.

Additionally, PMAP is planning for greater exchanges between the PCCA and PCCJ paddocks, with wildcard entry slots available for each series, which could also allow selected PCCJ drivers to participate in the PCCA finale in Singapore.

While the PCCJ title was won last month by Taichi Watarai, the PCCA title remains up for grabs heading into this weekend’s Singapore double-header.

With Marcus Amand skipping the Sepang triple-header due to a clash with his Porsche Supercup commitments, Marco Giltrap — who won two of the three races in Malaysia — holds a narrow 3.5-point lead over Amand with 54 up for grabs.

Rodrigo Dias Almeida is 36 points down in third after scoring maximum points in the remaining Sepang race, second behind guest starter Dylan Pereira.

Additionally, making a guest appearance this weekend at Singapore is 2024 PCCA champion Alessandro Ghiretti in a Tempo-liveried entered by the series itself.

Carrera Cup Asia series manager Alexandre Imperatori commented: “We’re looking forward to the 2026 season finale on the support bill of the Singapore Grand Prix. We’ve got all four championship battles well and truly alive coming into this weekend’s event, with so much up for grabs.

“It’s great to welcome back our 2024 champion Alessandro Ghiretti as we enter a VIP car in partnership with Tempo, which is an exciting addition to an already record grid.

“Saturday’s event promises to be special, with the event taking place under the lights, before we conclude an amazing campaign on Sunday, which has showcased excellent racing throughout.

“Today we also hosted our Formation Lap event, unveiling a host of novelties as well as an exciting 2027 calendar, which sees the championship racing alongside both the Chinese and Singapore Grands Prix again.

“Additionally, we’ve got two large Porsche events in Zhuhai and Fuji Speedway, with the Endurance Cup and its spectacular race format returning at the popular Sepang International Circuit.”
