Signatech-Alpine Set for FIA WEC LMP2 Entry

Two-time and defending European Le Mans Series champions Signatech-Alpine are set to step up to the FIA World Endurance Championship this year, with the French squad having reportedly lodged a LMP2 entry request for the globe-trotting sports car championship.

Although not yet officially announced, it’s understood the Philippe Sinault-led team has entered an Alpine A450b-Nissan for Nelson Panciatici and Paul-Loup Chatin, with French publication Le Maine Libre reporting Vincent Capillaire as the potential third pilot.

Panciatici, Chatin and Oliver Webb teamed to win the 2014 ELMS Drivers’ Championship in the ORECA-built prototype. 

It’s unclear if the Signatech-Alpine will also return to the ELMS this year. The team had been planning an expansion to a two-car effort, with a single-car entry possible for both championships. A two-car FIA WEC entry appears unlikely, although both cars are likely to take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
