Till Named PWC Race Director/Chief Driver Steward

WC Vision has announced Brian Till as new Race Director and Chief Driver Steward of the Pirelli World Challenge, beginning with the 2015 season.

Till will work in partnership with Pirelli World Challenge Competition Director Marcus Haselgrove managing Race Operations within the series’ new Race Steward team. While Haselgrove manages the lead Pirelli World Challenge’s competition department, Till will be responsible for overseeing on-track activity with the team of stewards in Race Control as Race Director.

“I am truly honored to have the opportunity to work with the Pirelli World Challenge Championships and WC Vision this year in the role of Race Director / Chief Drivers Steward,” Till said. “Without a doubt, this series provides some of the best sprint format, production based sports car racing in the world. The level of professionalism that the teams and drivers display every weekend is fantastic and that certainly has me looking forward to being a part of the program.”

Scott Bove, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pirelli World Challenge, said, “I am very pleased for the series to make this announcement. I have known Brian from his Indy days and have always had the greatest respect for him. In this business, respect and trust are very important traits and difficult to find in such a talented individual.

“He was my first driving instructor at the Mid-Ohio School and we have always stayed in touch. Having the opportunity for him join our team as Chief Driver Steward /Driver Coach is an honor, and puts the series in a very good place going into our 26th year in North American Road Racing.”

Haselgrove said, “This newly created steward position reinforces the suite of tools in race control. I am very excited Brian is joining us. He brings not only the required driver experience element but also the analysis skillset from TV broadcasting.”

As a driver, Till was the 1990 Formula Atlantic champion and made more than 20 open-wheel starts over four CART seasons from 1992 to 1995, including the 1994 Indianapolis 500 where he finished 12th.

Till’s career has since taken him into broadcasting for sports car and open-wheel racing over the last decade, for more than 400 motorsports race events. Till’s versatility has served him well in his ability to provide insights and observations from his driving career, and relay it to fans and competitors.

He has spent time both an anchor and pit reporter for FOX Sports, NBC, ABC, CBS, ESPN, TNT, TNN and SPEED networks. In addition, Till continues to fuel his passion for the “behind the wheel” aspect of racing and high performance driving by continuing to teach at the Mid-Ohio School, located at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
