After evaluating a potential program for the last few months, the FIA WEC championship-leading LMP2 squad is set to pull the trigger on a P2 campaign for the North American Endurance Championship.

Sportscar365 has learned that OAK Racing is preparing to submit at least one entry for next year’s TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona and Twelve Hours of Sebring, with an eye towards competing in the entire four-round NAEC.

“We are very interested in the North American Endurance Championship for next year,” team boss Jacques Nicolet told Sportscar365. “We are working to be ready for Daytona and Sebring, for the first part [of the championship]. After, we shall see.”

Nicolet confirmed their intentions of fielding up to two Morgan-Nissans for the first two rounds of the TUDOR Championship, entry permitting.

It’s understood the cars will fly from the season-ending FIA WEC race in Bahrain in early December direct to Florida to begin pre-season testing.

“It’s difficult for us because the cars will be in Bahrain and Daytona is very early in the year,” Nicolet said. “We are doing the organizing right now. We have been working all of the situations.”

The French squad is also hopeful of having customer Morgan P2 cars on the grid next year for the full season and is believed to be in discussions with at least two teams, including 8Star Motorsports.

Team principal Sebastien Philippe said they have built additional cars in recent months with the hope of deals being finalized for the North American market.
