Hexis Racing Still Searching For Investors

The future is looking bleak for Hexis Racing, as time is running out to find a suitable investor for the team to continue in a competitive way.

In October, it was announced that the Hexis Group will withdraw its financial support to racing team at the end of the year as the company needs the resources to pursue international development.

“It’s not looking good at the moment. We are talking with an interested party, but for now it would be just to survive,” team boss Philippe Dumas told Sportscar365. “We need to have a solution in place by the 10th of December or we will shut down.”

The French team once again showed its potential last weekend by taking the checkered flag in second place at the Baku World Challenge, after having to make an additional pit stop at the beginning of the race, but received a post-race 10-second penalty for avoidable contact and was classified third.

“We try to manage the situation with McLaren, but it’s difficult,” Dumas continued. “GT3 is a customer program for them, but on the other hand they certainly don’t want to lose us. We have a special bond and they are trying to help us by looking out for sponsors and a potential program, though this will not be enough.”

Ever since the switch to GT racing, Hexis Racing has built quite a reputation for itself, with the teams’ title in the FIA GT3 European Championship (2009) and in the FIA GT1 World Championship (2011) as the most notable achievements, both with Aston Martin. It became runner-up in the latter championship in its first year with the McLaren MP4-12C GT3.

“Hexis Racing is a close family,” Dumas added. “We have already accomplished some great things, despite the fact that we are still young. Maybe it’s better to stop now and keep the good memories, rather than just trying to survive for the sake of it. We want to do things the right way and if that’s not possible it might be better to stop altogether.”
