SRO Motorsports Group will be assisting with operations of the inaugural FIA GT World Cup at Macau, the Automobile General Association Macao-China confirmed Friday.
The Stephane Ratel-led organizations, promoters of the Blancpain GT Series, will work jointly with the AAMC to coordinate the GT3 event scheduled for Nov. 19-22 on the famed street circuit.
“We are very happy to be working jointly with SRO and with the support from the Macau Government and FIA we look forward to create a very exciting and successful FIA GT World Cup in Macau,” said AAMC President Chong Coc Veng.
Benjamin Franassovici, the series manager of the British GT Championship and of 12 Hours of Sepang for SRO, will work on the team coordination, while sporting director Jacquie Groom will interface between the FIA and the teams on all sporting matters.
It will mark the SRO’s first direct involvement with the FIA since the demise of the GT1 World Championship at the end of 2012.
“We are delighted to coordinate and work jointly with AAMC in making the inaugural FIA GT World Cup event the success it deserves to be,” Stephane Ratel said.
“It is also an honor and a pleasure for SRO to work on an FIA event once again.”
Among the responsibilities of the SRO will be to help assemble three Pro car entries per GT3 manufacturer entered.
