Tigani Motorsport has unveiled a special 7-Eleven themed livery for its first outing on the streets of Macau for next month’s FIA GT World Cup.
The Australian team, which is entering a solo Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for Lucas Auer for the end-of-season event on Nov. 19-22, has entered into a collaboration with Hong Kong-based model car maker Pop Race to produce the design.
In an additional nod to the famous chain of convenience stores, the car will run with the number 711.
Tigani is best known for its GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS and Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour exploits, and its inaugural Macau visit marks its second overseas event after it contested the Gulf 12 Hours at the end of last year.
“Tigani Motorsport has quickly established itself as the preeminent Mercedes-AMG team in Australia,” said team founder Nathan Tigani.
“As an official Mercedes-AMG Performance Team, we’re immensely proud to be representing the brand on the world’s biggest stage.
“Macau represents a major milestone for our team. The FIA GT World Cup is without a doubt among the biggest GT prizes in the world.
“Mercedes-AMG has an incredible record and to be one of just two teams representing the brand at Macau is a privilege and an honor.
“To have ‘Luggi’ [Auer] join us at Macau will be a pleasure and we’ll do everything that we can to make sure he has the best opportunity to win.”
Tigani’s No. 711 car will be one of the three Mercedes-AMGs on the grid in Macau as the Affalterbach marque returns to the GT World Cup after sitting out last year’s race, with Craft-Bamboo Racing fielding cars for Maro Engel and Adderly Fong.
Auer meanwhile is making his debut at the Guia Circuit in a GT car, having last driven there in Formula 3 machinery back in 2014.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be returning to Macau,” said Auer. “It is simply an incredible event and something very special for every driver. That makes me even more excited about my first GT3 outing on the Guia Circuit in November.
“I’ll be making intensive use of the time between now and then to prepare as best as possible, with simulator sessions as well as extensive video and data analysis.”
