While Greg Pickett’s Muscle Milk Pickett Racing team has been out of action since the 2014 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, Pickett himself is planning a driving comeback in the series where he first made his name.

Pickett, the 1978 Trans-Am champion, will race in the Round 7 of the season at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on August 15. He’ll drive the No. 68 Jaguar XKR in the 22-car TA class.

Pickett, who made his Trans-Am debut in 1975 at Road America, will be making his first Trans-Am appearance since 2009 in what will be his 178th Trans-Am start, the second most in the Series all time.

“My wife Penny and I are certainly looking forward to our return to the Trans Am Series,” Pickett said. “This year marks the 40th anniversary of our first Trans-Am race, which was back in 1975.

“In Trans-Am we have so many fond memories, and have forged many lifelong personal and professional relationships.  We’re not taking anything for granted.  The competition is very, very tough.”

Pickett’s most recent driving appearance came in the team’s Lola Aston Martin LMP1 prototype in the 2011 American Le Mans Series finale at Petit Le Mans.
