Lexus has revealed their plans to enter the GT3 category with the launch of the Lexus RC F GT3 concept car, to be seen first at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.

Based on the new RC F coupe, the RC F GT3 will be developed and tested this season with deliveries of the cars to customer teams planned in time for the 2015 season.

The RC G GT3 will feature a modified 540BHP RC F V8 engine and will weigh in at 1,250 kg. It has been developed by Lexus International and Techno Craft and will be built in Japan.

It’s the first new GT3 car announced since the ACO and FIA’s plans to merge both the GTE and GT3 classes into a single base platform, which could still happen as early as 2016.
