SprintX Entry Doubles in Size for Season Finale at Monterey

The Pirelli World Challenge SprintX grid is set to double in size for next weekend’s season-ending round at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, with a total of 18 cars confirmed, including a number of new entries making its series debut.

A total of 115 cars, meanwhile, are entered between all classes for the Oct. 7-9 event on the Monterey Peninsula.

ENTRY LIST: Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

The SprintX GT class swells to eight cars, with class debuts for Alex Job Racing, Flying Lizard Motorsports, Black Swan Racing and McCann Racing, along with the return of De La Torre Racing.

Championship leaders Mills Racing will have a shakeup in its lineup, with BMW factory driver John Edwards replacing Kuno Wittmer in the team’s BMW Z4 GT3 alongside Michael Mills.

Calvert Dynamics, which swept the weekend in the last round at Utah Motorsports Campus, returns with its Porsche 911 GT3 R for Preston Calvert and Michael Lewis, one of five GT3-spec Porsches in the field.

It includes the No. 45 Flying Lizard entry, which will see team co-owner Darren Law return to the wheel, alongside Andy Wilzoch, while Cooper MacNeil and Gunnar Jeannette team up in an AJR-entered Porsche.

Tim Pappas and Andy Pilgrim are listed in Black Swan’s Porsche, while Jim and Michael McCann are set to give its Dodge Viper GT3-R its SprintX debut.

De La Torre Racing returns after missing the Utah round, with an Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 for Lars Viljoen and Caesar Bacarella.

Of note, Jorge De La Torre makes his racing return next weekend, as one of 11 entries in the GTA Sprint class.

As revealed by Sportscar365, DXDT Racing will give the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo car its PWC debut, with a pair of Lamborghinis entered for the two 60-minute SprintX races.

ANSA Motorsports, meanwhile, has entered a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car for Ludovico Manifredi and Jonathan Summerton in the GT Cup class.

GTS sees a six-car entry, thanks to an expanded four-car effort from TRG-AMR, which sees Brandon Davis and Kenton Koch in separate Aston Martin Vantage GT4 entries.

Series stalwart Stephen Cameron Racing has also entered a GT4-spec Aston in the class.

There’s also a handful of notable changes for the Sprint Series, which sees 15 GT cars, 11 GTA and five GT Cup entries for its single-race season finale.

Fabian Hamprecht has replaced Adderly Fong in the No. 88 Bentley Team Absolute Bentley Continental GT3, while Summerton is again confirmed with DIME Racing after being a late addition at Sonoma.

As previously mentioned, De La Torre makes his return to the cockpit after his serious accident at Lime Rock Park, and is set to drive his No. 4 Aston Martin.
