Engelhart to Make GRT Return in Place of Paul at Nürburgring

Long-time Grasser Racing Team driver Christian Engelhart will substitute for the injured Maximilian Paul at the wheel of one of the squad’s Lamborghini Temerario GT3s in this weekend’s DTM event at the Nürburgring.

Paul suffered fractures to his left leg and back in a crash at the Norisring in July when he slammed into the stricken BMW M4 GT3 EVO of Kelvin van der Linde, who escaped serious injury in the incident.

GRT only fielded one car at the subsequent DTM event at Oschersleben, where Mirko Bortolotti was able to achieve the first race win for the new Temerario GT3.

But now the squad is returning to two cars at the Nürburgring this weekend with Engelhart driving the No. 19 machine as Paul continues to recover from his injuries.

Engelhart first began competing with GRT in 2016 and won the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup title — the forerunner to the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS — the following year.

However, the German had not previously raced for the team this year having instead made Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie outings in Konrad Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3s and also contested one round of the International GT Open in a Dinamic GT Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo.

Engelhart’s most recent DTM appearance came in 2024 when he tackled the first three events before knee surgery curtailed his campaign.
