BoP Changes for GTE-Am Aston Martins

The Aston Martin Vantage will be allowed to run in two different specifications in GTE-Am, following an amendment to the FIA World Endurance Championship technical regulations.

The FIA Endurance Committee has approved specifications for both the 2012 and 2013-spec Astons, with the newer model conforming to the same configuration used in GTE-Pro.

Aston’s 2012-spec Vantage, which was used to win the GTE-Am drivers’ championship last year, can run with a 0.3 mm larger air restrictor and five liters of additional fuel capacity. It was given the same allowances in 2013.

Aston Martin Racing team principal John Gaw confirmed to Sportscar365 that both of their season-long GTE-Am entries will run to 2013 spec.

It’s unclear if Craft Bamboo Racing’s Vantage, entered for the 24 Hours of Le Mans only, will utilize the 2012 or 2013 configuration. The Asian Le Mans Series-based entry is the only other Aston entered in the class.
