WC Vision has announced the 2018 Pirelli World Challenge schedule, featuring a relatively unchanged 11-weekend calendar, with two to-be-announced venues.

The popular North American championship will return to the majority of the circuits from this year, including the shared weekends with IndyCar at St. Petersburg, Long Beach and Road America.

Standalone events are again set to occur at Virginia International Raceway, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Lime Rock Park, Utah Motorsports Campus and Circuit of The Americas, which moves from Labor Day Weekend to a late March date.

Both Mid-Ohio and Sonoma Raceway are not currently on the schedule, although PWC has listed the TBAs for July and September, which have been the traditional dates for the those races.

“After the success of this year’s Pirelli World Challenge SprintX and Sprint formats, several additional venues have inquired about hosting PWC races in 2018,” said Greg Gill, president and CEO of WC Vision.

“We are excited to be back at most of our traditional tracks and dates but I think you might also see some other venues added to the PWC schedule. We are still in negotiations with additional sites and I will have more information soon.

“As we enter our 29th PWC campaign, we want to thank many of North America’s most iconic and legendary road racing venues in bringing the best GT production-based racing to their racing facilities in 2018.

“We expect another outstanding season in 2018 for the fans, teams, drivers and sponsors.”

The complete class participation for each PWC weekend will be announced in the coming weeks.

GT single-driver sprint events will continue to run in conjunction on IndyCar weekends, with all races except Long Beach, set to be doubleheader weekends.

The five confirmed standalone races, meanwhile, will see all seven PWC classes in action.

The series will also return to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in October to close out the Touring Car season, supporting the Intercontinental GT Challenge California 8 Hours, which will close out the 2018 season.
