BMW has confirmed that Martin Tomczyk, Nicky Catsburg, Antonio Felix da Costa and Augusto Farfus will drive the pair of BMW Team MTEK-run M8 GTEs in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The drivers will compete in the 2018/19 ‘Super Season’ and both the 2018 and 2019 runnings of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the new BMW M8 GTE.

It has been announced that they will be joined by Tom Blomqvist, Alexander Sims and Philipp Eng at Le Mans, although one driver is expected to act as a reserve as three-driver lineups are mandatory in the French race.

Tomczyk comes to the program after a year with BMW Team RLL in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship while Castburg has primarily been competing in GT3 events for BMW.

Da Costa is one of Andretti’s FIA Formula E Championship drivers and Farfus has most experience in DTM, where he will remain a full-time BMW driver next season.

“The drivers in our WEC squad have been intensely involved in the development work on the BMW M8 GTE from the outset,” said BMW Motorsport director Jens Marquardt.

“The combination of GT experience and race talent means we are ideally positioned to achieve good results in our first season in uncharted territory.

“After the intense months spent developing the car, everyone at BMW Motorsport is extremely motivated ahead of the first races in 2018.”

The M8 GTE will make its WEC debut at Spa-Francorchamps in May before BMW returns to Le Mans in June.
