Porsche’s new 911 GT3 R is set for its competition debut in next month’s 24 Hours of Portimao, with Manthey Racing fielding the 2019-spec GT3 contender in the twice-around-the-clock enduro.

Brothers Alfred and Robert Renauer and Ralf Bohn will be joined by Porsche Young Professional Mathieu Jaminet at the wheel of the No. 912 Porsche for the July 6-8 race, which marks the sixth round of Creventic’s 24H Series.

It has been entered in the SPX class for un-homologated cars.

As revealed by Sportscar365 last month, Head of Porsche Motorsport Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser said that the car’s race debut could come in a 24H Series round later this year, ahead of a full customer rollout in 2019.

Walliser also hinted towards a possible joint effort with a customer team for the car’s first outing, which appears to have been made with the Renauer-run Herberth Motorsport squad.

While formally unveiled during the Nürburgring 24, the new-gen Porsche has already completed significant mileage in testing over the past 12 months.
