Felipe Fraga has been confirmed for a full-season Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli campaign with GruppeM Racing.
Sportscar365 has learned that the 24-year-old Brazilian, who has recently been promoted from Silver to Gold rating by the FIA, will join the Mercedes-AMG squad for all five races, kicking off with next month’s Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.
The team’s two remaining drivers, who will be factory pilots, have yet to be announced by the German manufacturer.
Fraga enters his first IGTC season on the heels of successful runs with Mercedes-AMG customer teams Strakka Racing, P1 Motorsports and most notably Riley Motorsports in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
The Stock Car Brasil star was part of Ben Keating’s lineup in last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans that ended in the team’s Ford GT being excluded for fuel-related infractions after initially taking the class victory.
More recently, Fraga has been a regular in Team Project 1’s Porsche 911 RSR in the FIA World Endurance Championship, alongside Keating and Jeroen Bleekemolen, who currently lead the GTE-Am drivers’ championship.
Fraga is set to share a Riley-entered Mercedes GT3 Evo with Keating in this month’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, one week prior to his Bathurst debut.
