Algarve Pro Racing has finalized its driver lineup for the LMP2 squad’s FIA World Endurance Championship cameo in the Total 6 Hours of Spa on August 15.
Simon Trummer and Jon Lancaster will join the previously-confirmed John Falb in Algarve Pro’s entry with a single Goodyear-shod Oreca 07 Gibson.
All three drivers are members of the team’s European Le Mans Series roster, although Lancaster usually drives in a different car to Falb and former IMSA DPi regular Trummer.
Falb, who was the 2017 ELMS LMP3 champion, is set for his maiden WEC appearance while Lancaster last raced in the series outside of Le Mans in 2013, when he helped Greaves Motorsport to a class podium in that year’s Bahrain season finale.
Trummer’s most recent WEC outing came in 2017 when he contested the full season with Manor in LMP2, while he also previously drove for ByKolles Racing in LMP1.
Algarve Pro is set to use Spa as a warm-up for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in September, for which it has a single entry in the LMP2 class for Falb, Trummer and another driver.
The team is also running in the ELMS 4 Hours of Spa on August 9, which has attracted five full-time WEC teams owing to its position a week before the Total 6 Hours.
“I’m super excited to be able to race at Spa back-to-back, with the ELMS followed by the WEC,” said Falb.
“I’m looking forward to running with my teammates Simon and Jon, who are both proven and very fast pilots. It’ll be a blast and I think the ‘X factor’ will be the weather, because it can change very quickly at Spa.
“I’m really looking forward to getting the WEC season rolling and it will be a great way of preparing for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.”
