Four-Hour Enduro Awaits Competitors at Road Atlanta

IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge competitors are set for their second endurance race of the season, in Sunday’s four-hour contest at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

A total of 33 cars are on the entry list, featuring a number of driver changes or additions since the last round at Virginia International Raceway two weeks ago.

The GS class sees the return of M1 Racing’s McLaren 570S GT4 with the new driver lineup of Ryan Nash and Ashley Freiberg, who will make her first start in more than two years.

Colin Braun joins the No. 35 Riley Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT4 lineup alongside Dylan Murry and Jim Cox due to Jeroen Bleekemolen being on GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS duty this weekend at the Nürburgring.

Other third driver additions include Andrew Davis in the No. 71 Rebel Rock Racing Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R and John Tecce in the No. 38 BGB Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

PF Racing will welcome back Chad McCumbee to the No. 40 Ford Mustang GT4 after one-offs by Chase Briscoe and Drew Staveley, while James Clay’s co-driver in the No. 82 BimmerWorld BMW M4 GT4 has yet to be announced.

The No. 82 BMW entry is expected to return for the weekend after Devin Jones’ massive accident at VIR, which left Jones with multiple fractures.

Automatic Racing has both of its Aston Martin Vantage GT4s entered again, although with to-be-announced lineups.

Tire, BoP Changes for Road Atlanta

The TCR class enters Road Atlanta with no changes since VIR, other than a new Michelin front tire, which features a revised construction.

The Hyundai Veloster N TCR, which has been the all-dominant car in the class so far this year, will have a 10-liter reduction in fuel capacity this weekend, while the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR gets a 3-liter increase.

Several Balance of Performance adjustments have been made to the GS class as well, with the Audi R8 LMS GT4 getting a 1 mm larger air restrictor and 2-liter increase in fuel capacity.

The BMW GT4, meanwhile, has received a 20kg increase in minimum weight.

Track action kicks off on Friday with the VP Racing Stay Frosty Coolants 240 set for a 12:10 p.m. ET start on Sunday, with live coverage on Trackpass on NBC Sports Gold and IMSA Radio.
