Legge Moves to GTE-Am Crew in Iron Dames Lineup Shuffle

Katherine Legge will move to Iron Lynx’s FIA World Endurance Championship crew as part of a lineup shuffle involving the addition of two new members to the Ferrari team’s ‘Iron Dames’ initiative for female racing drivers.

IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competitor Legge, who was originally due to represent Iron Lynx in the European Le Mans Series, has been re-assigned to the Italian outfit’s No. 85 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo in the WEC’s GTE-Am category.

Legge will make her debut in both the world championship and GTE alongside Manuela Gostner and Rahel Frey, who is also driving for Iron Lynx in ELMS this year.

The move is a straight swap between Legge and Michelle Gatting, who was initially set to follow her regular ELMS co-drivers Frey and Gostner to Iron Lynx’s new WEC program.

Gatting will instead remain in ELMS, sharing the No. 83 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo with Frey and Esmee Hawkey, who is one of two new additions to the Iron Dames initiative.

The project’s other recruit is Doriane Pin who will be at the wheel of an Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo 2020 in the Michelin Le Mans Cup.

French teenager Pin, who was a finalist of last year’s FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars talent selection program, will receive co-driving support from Gostner.

With Gostner now racing in the main ELMS support series, Iron Lynx has introduced reigning Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro-Am class champion and GTE rookie Hawkey to replace the Italian as the ELMS crew’s designated FIA Bronze-ranked member.

“We are extremely happy that Doriane and Esmee are joining us,” said Iron Dames project leader Deborah Mayer.

“In Iron Lynx, they will be surrounded by a group of amazing and very experienced drivers which are sure to help them integrate and develop further within the GT environment.

“We are convinced that they can do a great job and I wish all of our drivers good luck for the season.”

Iron Lynx has not confirmed whether the lineup shuffle also impacts its Iron Dames crew for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which forms part of the six-round WEC season.

Gatting, Gostner and Frey were named in February as one of the Iron Lynx Le Mans trios, setting them up for their third consecutive participation in the race together.

Legge’s new WEC program comes with three date clashes with her full-time IMSA role driving a Team Hardpoint EBM Porsche 911 GT3 R in the GT Daytona class.

The 8 Hours of Portimao conflicts with the new date for IMSA’s visit to Detroit Belle Isle, while the 6 Hours of Monza and Lime Rock Park events also share a weekend. A third clash later in the year concerns the 6 Hours of Fuji and the Long Beach Grand Prix.

Iron Lynx is running two cars in the WEC and three in ELMS. Its No. 60 WEC Ferrari will be driven by Matteo Cressoni, Claudio Schiavoni and team co-founder Andrea Piccini.

Cressoni will then partner Rino Mastronardi and Ferrari factory driver Miguel Molina in one ELMS entry, while Schiavoni will be joined by Giorgio Sernagiotto and Paolo Ruberti in the other.
