Performance Tech Motorsports drivers Dan Goldburg and Rasmus Lindh as well as the Riley Motorsports pairing of Dylan Murry and Jim Cox and Lance Wilsey of Sean Creech Motorsport are set to pull double duty between the team’s two LMP3 entries this weekend at Mid-Ohio for the first time in the new-for-2021 format.

Both pairings and Wilsey will compete in Sunday’s 2 hour 40-minute IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship round and the 1 hour and 45-minute IMSA Prototype Challenge race earlier that day, with Performance Tech and Riley drivers in Ligier JS P320 Nissan machinery.

Wilsey, meanwhile, will race a previous-gen Ligier JS P3 Nissan in the IPC race before stepping into the current-gen LMP3 car in the WeatherTech Championship round.

While multiple teams and drivers have previously run in the two series, it has never come on the same weekend with the same class of machinery.

The LMP3 category made its WeatherTech Championship debut at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January, while the IPC season kicked off at the Roar Before the Rolex 24 the week prior.

Round 2 of IPC, held at Sebring, also took part the weekend before the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

Goldburg and Lindh will pilot the team’s No. 38 Ligier in the Acura Sports Car Challenge presented by TLX Type S and the No. 6 Motel 6-sponsored LMP3 entry in the IPC race.

Murry and Cox, meanwhile, will be behind the wheel of separate No. 91 Ligier entries entered by Riley.

Performance Tech team principal Brent O’Neill is hoping for better fortunes this weekend after a series of setbacks at Sebring.

Goldburg and Lindh, however, are coming off a second-place finish in the IPC race at Sebring.

“Without a doubt we had the car to win in Prototype Challenge and the 12 Hour at Sebring in March,” O’Neill said.

“Unfortunately, we were plagued by rule breaking competitors in Prototype Challenge and mechanical demons in the 12 Hour. But we have the drivers, the pace and the experience at Mid-Ohio to make this a great weekend.

“I’m excited to get the boys back on track and bring home the first win of the season.

“This weekend will be a lot for Rasmus and Dan, but I have no doubt that they can do great in both series.”

In addition to Performance Tech and Riley, Forty7 Motorsports is also pulling double duty with LMP3 entries as a team, although there is currently no driver overlap between the two series.

A total of 15 cars are on the entry list for the third round of the IPC season this weekend, with 13 of the LMP3 entries in the class for new-generation machinery and two grandfathered prototypes competing for LMP3-2 class honors.
