Newly crowned Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY champion Sergio Jimenez has claimed a sweep of the weekend in New York City, following another controlling lights-to-flag victory Sunday in Brooklyn.
Jimenez, who clinched the first-ever all-electric production car championship on Saturday, took a commanding 4.332-second victory over teammate Caca Bueno, who consolidated his runner-up finish in the championship.
An issue for Celia Martin’s car in Turn 9 with two minutes to go resulted in a yellow flag for the remainder of the race.
The Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing entry of Katherine Legge completed the podium in third after pressuring Bueno in the middle stages of the race.
Simon Evans, meanwhile, finished fourth.
Former title contender Bryan Sellers, who started from last on the grid after missing qualifying due to an oil leak on one of the car’s motors, came home fifth overall.
Sellers charged to seventh overall on the opening lap in an impressive rebound after not having any track time since his qualifying accident on Saturday.
Ahmed Bin-Khanen, meanwhile, picked up the Pro-Am class victory in his Saudi Racing Jaguar, which finished sixth overall.
It marked his second class win of the season.
A total of ten cars took part in the 25-minute plus one-lap race after Jaguar VIP guest driver Mark Hacking’s car was not able to be repaired following his race-ending accident on Saturday.
