Altzman Storms to First Career GS Pole at Watkins Glen

Jenson Altzman stormed to his first carer IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge pole position Friday evening at Watkins Glen International.

The Ford Performance Junior Team driver reeled off a 1:54.918 in his No. 13 McCumbee McAleer Racing Ford Mustang GT4 to edge out the No. 46 Team TGM Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo of Paul Holton by 0.034 seconds.

Altzman is sharing his Mustang GT4 this weekend with co-owner Chad McCumbee after Sam Paley’s funding dried up.

Sean McAlister will start Saturday’s two-hour race third in the No. 39 CarBahn with Peregrine Racing BMW M4 GT4, with Luca Mars fourth in the No. 28 RS1 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, with Panam Motorsport’s Caio Chaves completing the top-five in his No. 54 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2.

TCR class pole honors went to the No. 93 MMG Honda Civic FL5 TCR of LP Montour, who reeled off a 1:55.288 lap time to edge out Celso Neto’s No. 7 Precision Racing LA Audi RS 3 LMS TCR by 0.639 seconds.

Montour impressively set the sixth quickest time overall in the 39-car overall field.

The No. 52 Baker Racing Audi of Sam Baker will roll off from third on the grid in class.

The LP Building Solutions 120 at The Glen gets underway Saturday at 11:45 a.m. EST with live coverage on Peacock as well as free-to-view on IMSA’s YouTube channel, courtesy of Michelin.
