Autometrics will combine with a new team named Bluff City Racing to field a Mercedes-AMG GT4 in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge next year.

The initiative is led by team principal and driver Anton Dias Perera, who recently took delivery of the Mercedes. He will share driving duties with Dan Clarke and Cory Friedman.

The team’s name is in reference to Memphis, Tenn., ‘Home of the Blues’, with the city located on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River.

It will also promote awareness of JDRF, a charity funding research to find a cure and treatments for type 1 diabetes.

South Carolina-based Autometrics has made a number of sports car starts in recent years, including at the GT World Challenge America round at Circuit of The Americas earlier this year.

Friedman comes from Autometrics, competing primarily in Porsche Club of America competition, where Perera has also gained experience. Clarke has a single-seater career in his background, with stints in Formula 3, A1GP and Indy Lights.
