Defending IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge TCR champion Michael Lewis has been ruled out of next weekend’s Fox Factory 120 at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta due to an injury sustained in the closing laps of last month’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Lewis, who sits sixth in the drivers’ points standings alongside Taylor Hagler, “continues treatment” and has not yet been medically cleared to race according to a statement from Bryan Herta Autosport.
“Our focus and priority remain on Michael’s health, so while we are disappointed not to have him in our car alongside Taylor Hagler next weekend, we understand that his full and complete recovery is most important,” said team co-owner Bryan Herta.
“We will evaluate our options for a substitute driver to stand in for Michael in the coming days.”
BHA enters the title-deciding race leading the TCR standings with the No. 33 Hyundai Elantra N TCR of Harry Gottsacker and Robert Wickens.
