Nate Cicero will step up to IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge with McCumbee McAleer Racing, replacing Chad McCumbee for this weekend’s penultimate round of the season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The 19-year-old has been part of MMR’s roster of drivers across a variety of championships, notably making stepping into the team’s Mustang Challenge lineup and finishing fifth on debut at Mid-Ohio.

His other exploits include the Mazda MX-5 Cup, where he was crowned Rookie of the Year last year.

Cicero will be racing alongside Jenson Altzman, piloting the No. 13 Ford Mustang GT4 for the two-hour race at the Brickyard in place of team co-owner McCumbee.

“I’m beyond excited to race in the Michelin Pilot Challenge with McCumbee McAleer Racing,” Cicero said.

“After successes in the MX-5 Cup and Mustang Challenge, I’m ready to take the next step at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.”

Altzman and McCumbee currently sit 14th in the Pilot Challenge standings, scoring a podium finish at Sebring International Raceway in March.

“Nate’s journey within our team is exactly what we envisioned when we built our ladder system,” said McCumbee.

“He’s more than earned this opportunity to race in the GT4 class alongside Jenson, and we’re confident he’ll showcase his skills at Indy.”

A total of 33 entries are set for Saturday’s race across the GS and TCR categories.
