Newly signed Ford Performance driver Hailie Deegan will make her IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge debut in next month’s season-opener at Daytona International Speedway.

The 18-year-old, who became the first female driver to win a race in what’s known as the ARCA Menards Series, will compete in multiple series with Ford in 2020, including selected Pilot Challenge outings in a Multimatic-run Ford Mustang GT4.

“Hailie has shown in her brief time behind the wheel of a stock car that she’s got what it takes to be successful,” said Ford Performance global motorsports director Mark Rushbrook.

“Our goal is to put her on a path to realize our shared goal of winning championships and part of that is gaining experience on tracks such as road courses and superspeedways.

“We feel this year will serve as a good foundation for what lies ahead.”

Deegan will get her first laps in Multimatic’s Mustang GT4 at the Roar Before the 24, ahead of the four-hour season-opener on Jan 24, where she will co-drive with fellow Ford Performance development driver Chase Briscoe.

Briscoe, along with other Ford-affiliated NASCAR drivers, made selected starts in the series last year, with a similar program expected for 2020.
