Doran Racing has topped the time charts following the opening pair of Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge practice sessions at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

BJ Zacharias reeled off a best lap of 1:27.548 in the No. 14 Nissan 370Z in Friday morning’s practice session, with the time standing as quickest of the day heading into this evening’s qualifying.

Zacharias edged out the No. 15 Multimatic Motorsports Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R-C of Billy Johnson by 0.090 seconds. Johnson paced the afternoon session, ahead of teammate Jade Buford.

In ST, the No. 34 Alara Racing Mazda MX-5 of Christian Szymczak led the way in both sessions, with his 1:32.286 lap time from the morning standing as the quickest.

The pair of 45-minute sessions did not run without incident, the most notable coming from a heavy crash by the No. 8 Mantella Autosport Camaro Z/28.R of Anthony Mantella.

Mantella slammed into the Turn 3 barriers, with his Camaro ending up on its side. It brought out an early end to the opening session, with the car not setting a time in the afternoon.

Qualifying gets underway at 5:20 p.m. ET.
