Trenton Estep grabbed the fastest time in a rain-affected opening practice session for the LP Building Solutions 120 at The Glen.
Weather dampened most of the hour-long session for IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge competitors. A majority of the top times were set in the early minutes.
Estep piloted the No. 66 YRB Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo to the top of the board with a 2:07.156 time. Caoi Chaves slotted into 2nd in the GS class 0.093 seconds back.
Kiko Porto in the No. 12 RAFA Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 rounded out the top three of the session. Six of the 29 GS entries broke into the 2:07 bracket.
Denis Dupont paced the TCR class by 1.884 seconds in the No. 76 Bryan Herta Autosport Hyundai Elantra N TCR. Sam Baker and Celso Neto completed the top three in class for the session.
Baker also brought out the only red flag of the session. He spun and stranded his No. 52 Audi RS 3 LMS TCR in Turn 7 with 14 minutes left. The stoppage lasted four minutes.
Two penalties were also issued to the field.
The No. 14 Circle H Racing Aston Martin received a drive-through for leaving a tire unattended without a crew in the pit lane. BSI Racing committed two pit road speeding violations to warrant a drive-through with their No. 67 entry.
Practice 2 gets underway at 9:15 a.m. EST on Friday.
