Dillon Machavern put the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge GS championship-leading Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 on pole for this afternoon’s Virginia is for Racing Lovers Grand Prix at VIR.
Machavern reeled off a best lap of 153.732 in his No. 95 BMW M4 GT4 just moments before Nate Vincent crashed heavily into the Turn 10 barriers and flipped his No. 11 FCP Euro Mercedes-AMG GT4.
The heavy accident resulted in a session-ending red flag, with barrier repairs required.
Super sub Kenny Murillo will start second on the grid in the No. 56 Murillo Racing Mercedes followed by the No. 7 VOLT Racing by Archangel Aston Martin Vantage GT4 of Alan Brynjolfsson.
Orey Fidani was fourth quickest in the No. 13 AWA McLaren 570S GT4 while Patrick Gallagher completed the top-five in the No. 23 Notlad by RS1 Aston Martin.
TCR saw Harry Gottsacker claim class pole for Bryan Herta Autosport and Hyundai, in another session that ended early due to an incident.
Gottsacker’s teammate Parker Chase suffered an accident at the wheel of the No. 98 Hyundai Elantra N TCR with five minutes left on the clock.
Both Vincent and Gottsacker were evaluated and released from the track medical center, per IMSA.
The two-hour race at Virginia International Raceway takes the green flag at 2:10 p.m. ET with live coverage on Trackpass on NBC Sports Gold and IMSA Radio.
