PF Racing will contest the entire IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season with Jade Buford and James Pesek in a Ford Mustang GT4, beginning this weekend at Daytona.
The Missouri-based operation spent last year racing in Pirelli GT4 America, in what was known as the Pirelli World Challenge GTS class, with Buford finishing third in the Sprint championship and fourth in the overall and SprintX standings.
Buford, who is set to contest the full season in Pilot Challenge for the first time since 2015, said he’s excited for the challenge that the series presents.
“It’s great to be back over here in IMSA,” Buford told Sportscar365. “You see the talent level and the depth of the field and it’s going to be extremely competitive.
“We’ve got a good team behind us and we have a good car, so hopefully we can make the most out of it and get some good results.”
Pesek said he hopes his experience racing in GT4 America last year will help him in his transition to a new paddock.
“I feel a lot more prepared than I did going into last year,” he told Sportscar365. “I feel pretty confident and comfortable. We’ve run a few endurance races so that shouldn’t be a big deal.
“I’m pretty excited. It’s my first time running here, first time in World Challenge last year. We’ll see how it goes.”
Team owner JR Pesek did not rule out appearances the SRO Motorsports America-run series in addition to the team’s Pilot Challenge commitments.
