Porsche GT4 Hit With BoP Change for Sebring

After claiming victory in January’s Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season-opener at Daytona, Porsche’s Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR will arrive in Sebring this week with additional weight, following Balance of Performance adjustments handed down head of Friday’s Alan Jay Automotive Network 120 at Sebring.

IMSA has confirmed that the GT4-spec Porsche has been given a 15kg weight increase, bringing the car up to a minimum weight of 1310 kg.

The change impacts all four Porsches in the 27-car GS class field, including the No. 28 RS1 entry of Spencer Pumpelly and Dillon Machavern, who took top honors in the BMW Endurance Challenge at Daytona.

Other BoP changes since the four-hour round include a 15 kg weight break for the Aston Martin Vantage GT4, a revised ECU map for the Mercedes-AMG GT4 and a four-liter fuel capacity increase for the BMW M4 GT4, which has a 0.5 mm larger refueling restrictor as a result.

The Ford Mustang GT4, meanwhile, has a 0.5 fuel restrictor reduction, with all ST class cars receiving a 1 mm smaller refueling restrictor.

Additionally, the entire TCR field gains 1-liter of fuel capacity, in a class-wide adjustment to the new-for-2018 category.

38 Entries for Sebring

The Continental Tire Challenge field drops to a 38-car entry for Sebring, following 43 cars at Daytona.

GMG Racing will not be present with its three Audi R8 LMS GT4 cars, while DXDT Racing’s Mercedes GT4 is also not entered, with Classic BMW scaling back to just one BMW GT4 car.

Additionally, Multimatic Motorsports will run just two Mustang GT4s after a three-car entry in Daytona, with Scott Maxwell and Chase Briscoe entered in the No. 15 car.

After entering a car in each of the three classes in Daytona, Murillo Racing has shifted its focus to a two-car Mercedes GT4 program for the remainder of the season, with Tim Probert and Brett Mosing set to make their GS class debut in the No. 65 entry.

Six TCR cars, meanwhile, are entered, with Ethan Low replacing JT Coupal in the No. 11 RS Werkes Racing Audi RS 3 LMS TCR.

A promoter test day is scheduled for Wednesday, with official track action set to get underway on Thursday ahead of Friday’s two-hour race.
